Shaking, Quaking Mountains

I had a dream last night about the first time the sound barrier was broken. If you are familiar with Chuck Yeager's story, you will recall the shaking and quaking of the aircraft to the point where they thought it would break up. It was an extreme act of bravery and faith to keep on track and push through to the other side. What was on the other side? Smooth sailing; like a different reality.

Upon awakening, I saw that it represented what we go through when we are trying to move mountains in our lives through the word of God and His perfect will for us. Just as the physical atmosphere resisted Chuck Yeager's aircraft, the spiritual atmosphere of the enemy will always try to resist us.

Our enemy spent a lot of time and effort putting that mountain in our path and will not give it up easily. This is why we experience a lot of shaking and quaking when we get serious about it. When we first try and speak to those mountains, commanding them to move, the enemy often mocks us. Growing in this spiritual authority takes time and practice. When he sees we are serious, however, and are a threat to his plans, he begins to throw everything at us to cause discouragement.

If this is happening to you, cheer up. It means he is taking you seriously. It means you are making progress. I had an experience like this. I believed God for a very serious and destructive mountain to be moved. I spoke to it as God commands (Mark 11:23), and put all my faith toward this. The enemy knew I was serious because all havoc broke loose and the enemy stirred up my feelings about it. This is the area he works in. He tries to get at you with feelings and emotions. I became angry at the people involved even while I was speaking God's word and applying faith.

Well, faith works by love, not by anger and cursing. When the mountain did not budge, I went to God and asked why. He quickly showed me to stop being angry and release His hand in the situation by speaking a blessing over the ones involved. This was very difficult as it seemed they were ruining my life. When I did find something I could say over them, it was amazing how quickly God got involved.

In Mark 11:23 I got the part about speaking to the mountains but I missed the part that said to have the faith of God. In other words, act like He does. Love is His way.

This was a great lesson for me in moving mountains God's way. Now that I had that under my belt, the next one was easier. I am now experiencing a little of that smooth sailing that comes after you break through the barriers. This is why I teach my readers to journal. We need a lion and bear legacy like David had in Genesis. When he rehearsed his victories, he gained faith and confidence. You will too.

Many pilots followed in Check Yeager's footsteps and continued to break every barrier. Now it's easy. I suggest to you that it is the same in the spirit. With each victory, it will get easier. Each time you gain ground, you will be prepared to gain higher ground. You will know you and Jesus can do it. Never let the shaking and quaking frighten you. Instead, take your position in Christ, look your giant in the eye, and run at him with God's word in your mouth.
